Paris - Day 2 - Part 1 - Hotel de Ville

Day 2 started early and fortunately the boulangerie Paul also opens early. A short walk and we reached Paul and being early we could order the set menu

Various baguettes available around 7.30am, also notice the prices above.

The shop assistant in typical baker outfit, just love their outfit, the assistant is preparing the drinks.

Another shot of the baguettes.

After ordering, we proceed to the table, aligned with table paper.

And then the breakfast is served, a big pot of Earl Grey, a small cup of real deal expresso, croissant and the pain au chocolate (chocolate croissant)

Nothing better to start the day early with a good breakfast.

The croissant and the pain au chocolate.

Another look at the pastries.

The chocolate bread with some icing sugar is just simple but marvelous, the pastry with chocolate indeed is something to remember. A must if you visit Paris. What can I say for the croissant, typical French quality.

The expresso is served without sugar, good for charging up your day.

The exquisite Dammann Freres Earl Grey tea.

Other pastries read for sale.Tasty pastries.

After the great breakfast, it is time to visit some great places too, within the schedule is the Hotel de Ville. Using the GPS, the travel route is given and off we go to the metro.

The ternes metro early morning.

Nice view of the l'arch de triomphe.

The early morning metro station at Ternes.

A cost effective way to travel in Paris is to get the carnet of 10 tickets for €12.70, which means a single ticket, which is valid for one way, costs €1.27 which translates to RM5.00 per ticket. So plan your trip well, this could save your a few euros.

Exited at Chatelet metro station.

Place du Chatelet is public square designed during 1806 to celebrate the Fench victories in battles ( Siege of Danzig, Battle of Ulm, Battle of Marengo, Battle of Pyramids, Battle of Lodi )

Adjacent to the Place du Chatelet is the Theatre La Ville.

The building left of Place du Chatelet.

At the pont au change bridge, looking at the Paris tribunal of commerce.

The Pont Notre Dame from the Pont Au Charge, still pretty early, not much traffic.

Looking at Pont Neuf, the oldest standing bridge in Paris.

Instead of crossing the bridge and venture we decided to go to the next plannes attraction which is the Parc de la tour Saint Jacques

Tower of Saint Jacques

Going east, we reached the Hotel de Ville.

Hotel de Ville.

Hotel de Ville, front facade.

Hotel de Ville is rebuilt on 1870s to its original French Rennaisance style. This building hosts the Paris city administration.

The right facade.

Allegorical figure of Art at the front ceremonial doors.

Sculptures.

BHV Hotel de Ville, departmental store.

Quite a big shopping mall, traffic slowly building up.

A bistro at the corner.

As the weather began to drizzle during the visit at Pont Au Change, it will be like this for the rest of the day, quite gloomy.

Back to the Hotel de Ville.

A panoramic view of the Hotel de Ville.

Maple leaf.

After lingering for a while at Hotel de Ville, it is time to visit the La Sainte-Chapelle, The Holy Chapel. One of the relics of medieval Christendom, built during 1239 and consecrated on 1248. Commissioned by King Louis IX.

Crossing the Seine river at Pont Notre Dame.

Palais de Justice, used to the the Parliment of Paris during the French Revolution.

Right before reaching the La Sainte-Chapelle, the Palais de Justice is next the holy chapel.
