London - Part III

The London Eye has a package that include Thames River cruises. I booked that too, so after the London Eye 'flight' we loitered around Jubilee Gardens and waited for the river cruise at about 5.00pm. It will be dark around 4.00pm.

We took a long walk and along the street we have people performing for money.

Is this a statue? It is actually a real person.

Later in the evening, feeling cold, temperature around 1 celsius.
The Thames River cruise is cold as we sat open at the boat going through a guided tour with strong breeze. However, you can also get mulled wine which will provide you the much needed heat and warmth.

Tower Bridge at night.
The next day, we travelled to Tower Bridge again to venture around the area, since we just cruise through by boat at night. Right beside the Tower Bridge is the White Tower Castle.

White Tower castle.

White Tower was initially completed at 1100 AD, it was built to commemorate the invasion by the Duke William of Normandy and subsequently enlarge to its current glory. To the left would be the Tower Bridge.

A snapshot up from the middle span of the bridge.

Tower Bridge at full glory on the cold sunny morning.
Not far away from Tower Bridge, the HMS Belfast moored and the ship itself is a floating museum. HMS Belfast was a heavy cruiser that participated in WWII, commisioned on 1939, the ship saw action on Operation Neptune ( D-DAY ) and sank the German battlecruiser Scharnhost and also saw action with the German battleshipTirpitz.

I always wanted to visit the floating ship museum, but the price is too high, 11 pounds sterling is too expensive eventhough the guests are entertained with some acts by the performers.
After visiting Tower Bridge, we headed to St. Paul Cathedral in London. The cathedral is built 1650 which has a dome like structure, also known as basilica church. St. Paul Cathedral has the second largest dome church after St. Peter Basilica Church in Rome.

St. Paul Cathedral.
We then walked around Piccadilly road and encountered a host of exquisite hotels and also Hard Rock cafe.

At the Trafalgar Square.
That concludes the long winded blog on London :)
